In 1303 Duke Otto granted the town charter to Hall, demonstrating the importance of the town, as right here salt was turned into gold. 10 million tons of salt were mined in the Hall valley, which were then transported along the river Inn. The old station was right beside the Gasthof Badl and ships had to stop in Hall by law.

After all the Silberstadt Schwaz was the second largest town in Austria during its heyday in the Middle Ages. Silver mining brought importance and wealth, and with it an abundance of culturally significant credentials of this fruitful time. With thousands of visitors each year the silver mine itself, and also Schloss Tratzberg in Jenbach, show that the Silberregion is a real crowd puller.
With just 400 inhabitants Rattenberg is Austria´s smallest town and is well known for glass craft. The medieval pedestrian zone is dominated by the unique artistic displays of glass in the numerous shops.
At 1000 m above sea level time seems to have stood still in the mountain village of Alpbach. Some say it was love at first sight. The beautiful farmhouses, all built in the traditional wooden building style are bound to make hearts melt.
