Rick Steves
RICK STEVES has met 3 generations of Steiner women. When he first discovered the BADL as a young man with a Rucksack, there was no way of knowing that he would become one of the world's most successful travel writers.
For Grandma Elke, the arrival of a young American was a sensation, as very few guests from overseas found their way to inns or toHall 40 years ago. This first acquaintance became a lifelong connection that continues until today. When the first guests arrived with the travel guide “Europe through the back door”, Elke was so excited “imagine, someone has written about us, what a miracle...” - she didn't realize at first that the author was the nice young man from the USA. What a joy when Rick visited the Badl again the following year.
We have Rick Steves to thank for many, many guests - the fact that he discovered us and learned to love us is one of our greatest gifts. Until today, it is his constant joy and passion to bring readers and travelers from overseas closer to our country, its small hidden beauties, culture and history - in his inimitable way. Rick Steve's travel guides are available from all over the world - the New York Times Magazine dedicates an exclusive report to him
