Your Tyrolean New Year
It’s that special time of year when the mountains glisten, the air feels crisp, and the cities are bathed in a sea of lights. When you stay with us at Gasthof Badl – Bed & Breakfast, you get the best of both worlds: you are right in the heart of the action, yet you have a peaceful retreat to return to.
Whether you’re looking for magical light displays or fresh mountain air, here is my personal guide to making your 2025/26 New Year’s transition truly special.
Innsbruck – Where Mountains, Music & Lights Meet
Just a short hop from our doorstep, Innsbruck transforms into a giant stage. From December 26th to January 6th, the city is alive with a colorful winter program: light installations decorate the historic facades, and the scent of mulled wine and roasted almonds fills the air.
For Families: On December 30th, the little ones can enjoy "Children's New Year's Eve" in the Old Town. With the theme "Fairground of Fantasy," there are carousels, magic shows, and a big closing concert at 5:00 PM – perfect for celebrating early!
The Big Night: On December 31st, live music fills the square in front of the Imperial Hofburg. At the stroke of midnight, the traditional fireworks display is launched from the Seegrube high above the city – a breathtaking sight.
A Pro-Tip for our Guests: On New Year’s Eve, public transport is free of charge! You can leave your car safely at Gasthof Badl, enjoy a few drinks in Innsbruck, and get back to your cozy room without any stress or parking hassles.
Extra Magic: Don't miss Lumagica in the Imperial Gardens (Hofgarten). The interactive light sculptures make for incredible holiday photos.
Hall-Wattens – Cozy, Authentic & Right Next Door
If you prefer a more romantic and relaxed atmosphere, you’ll love the medieval charm of Hall in Tirol.
Winter Weekly Program: Join guided torchlight walks or visit traditional nativity scenes. The themed city tours through Hall’s old town alleys are a guest favorite, offering a glimpse into the fascinating history of our region.
Active on the Glungezer: Our local mountain, the Glungezer, is the perfect spot for a day in the snow. Whether you enjoy skiing, sledding, or a snowshoe hike to the world’s longest stone pine bench, the alpine views are the best way to clear your head for the new year. Equipment rentals and ski schools are conveniently available on-site.
Elegant Dining Nearby: For those looking for a sophisticated gala dinner without a long commute, we recommend the Reschenhof or the Parkhotel Hall. Both offer exquisite 6-course menus, live music, and their own fireworks. (Note: The gala at Reschenhof is approx. € 120 per person – we highly recommend booking in advance!).
After the excitement of the fireworks and the city crowds, there is nothing better than returning to the warm, welcoming atmosphere of our Bed & Breakfast. Start your New Year’s Day with our regional breakfast and a view of the snow-capped peaks before heading out for a refreshing morning walk.
Whether you are looking for the urban spectacle of Innsbruck or the quiet romance of Hall – we at Badl are here to make sure you feel right at home.
We look forward to celebrating the end of the year with you!
