Excursion to the Wolfsklamm gorge with Marion

I grew up near the Wolfsklamm and I would like to introduce you to this special place. The impressive gorge is located in Stans near Schwaz, just a 20-minute drive from Gasthof Badl. The gorge is a real natural gem that I love to visit time and time again - it really never gets boring!

The Wolfsklamm gorge is around 1.5 kilometers long and offers hikers and nature lovers an unforgettable experience. Access to the gorge is via the village of Stans, from where the path leads directly into the gorge. Insider tip: Do not park in the paid parking lot directly in front of the gorge! There are plenty of designated free parking spaces in Stans. You may have to walk a little longer to the gorge, but then you'll be perfectly warmed up for the stairs in the gorge!

Special about the Wolfsklamm gorge is the combination of the high rocks, some of which are up to 100 meters high, and the rushing water. Combined with the refreshing mist, you can be sure that all the senses are stimulated.

I particularly appreciate the tranquillity and remoteness of the gorge, which you can enjoy especially in the early morning or late afternoon, when most of the visitors have already left. This allows to enjoy the beautiful nature without being disturbed by the hustle and bustle.

A hike through the Wolfsklamm gorge is truly a little adventure. The path leads over wooden walkways and bridges, up a number of steps, past deep gorges and crystal-clear pools of water. Caution - the path can be very slippery, especially after heavy rainfall, so good footwear and caution are advised.

Once at the top, it is worth visiting the St. Georgenberg monastery, the oldest one in Tyrol. The ascent to the monastery rewards you with a magnificent view of the surrounding landscape and is the perfect end to an adventurous day in the Wolfsklamm gorge. There is a nice restaurant, so you can enjoy a small culinary reward after the hike.

You can no longer return via the gorge itself - it is “one-way” to avoid oncoming traffic. However, there are of course several possible routes to get back to the parking lot with the beautiful impressions of the gorge.

For me, Wolfsklamm is a place of memories, as we often used to go hiking here with the family. Even today, I still like to go there to enjoy this place with family and friends. I am happy to share this tip with you and hope that you like this area as much as I do.
